Nortal starts operations in Dubai

The multinational strategic change and technology company Nortal expanded its operations to the United Arab Emirates by opening an office and establishing a local legal entity in Dubai at the end of last year. Nortal has already signed agreements for the first consulting projects for the Dubai Government concerning the implementation of an e-identity program and developing smart e-services.

According to Peeter Smitt, Nortal’s Managing Director for the Middle East Region, it was a logical next step for the company to establish an office in Dubai since being locally present increases accessibility for the customers. “Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in general are the largest markets in the region that see great potential in e-government solutions, and are heavily investing in improving processes in social and public services through innovative solutions and the deployment of e-services”, commented Smitt.

“Nortal’s previous projects in the region have proven that there’s a great demand for our e-solutions and expertise. At the moment we are working on several large-scale e-identity and ease-of-doing-business projects in Dubai, but we also see significant potential and prospects for exporting and implementing e-health and public finance solutions to the region”, added Smitt.

Nortal has operated in the region since 2008. Among many other prominent and high-impact projects, Nortal has previously developed a government portal Hukoomi for Qatar, a tax management solution and government cloud for Oman. In 2016, Nortal finalised a long-term project in the field of ease-of-doing-business in Oman – Invest Easy – which provides a single point of access to all government e-services for entrepreneurs. With optimised business registry processes and various supporting online services, Invest Easy went well beyond a typical software-development project, also effecting legislative changes, while in addition having a substantial impact on the local business environment and climate in Oman.
