Are you ready for the GDPR?

The EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation applies to all businesses whose customers are EU residents. The GDPR is an opportunity to understand the value of the data your organization collects and stores. DataRadar is a data governance tool that converts your compliance costs into an investment that can deliver a real return.

Compliance is not optional, so why not make it work for you? DataRadar lets you take control of your data, turning compliance costs into an investment that generates an actual return. Treat the GDPR as an opportunity to use data for smarter sales and marketing, creating seamless customer experiences.

How DataRadar works

1. Set it up

We set up DataRadar and provide you the hardware configuration description. The setup process is smooth and takes very little time and prep work from you.

2. Capture data

DataRadar is connected to data sources for scanning. DataRadar can analyze data from sources with both structured and unstructured data, such as databases, informational system logs, file systems, emails, scanned documents and electronic documents.

3. Scan and classify

DataRadar scans and automatically identifies, analyzes and classifies data such as personal information (names, addresses, phone numbers, bank account numbers, etc.) and business-related information (company names, registration numbers, VAT numbers, etc.). Every cell in every database and every symbol in every document, log and text file is examined.

4. Visualize and evaluate

Results are collected in a visual dashboard, giving insights into data quality, duplication and consistency. Hidden and forgotten data is discovered – even data no one knew existed. Combining DataRadar results with business process and flow information uncovers redundant efforts in information collection.

Benefits

Better data quality

Quality data gives your company a competitive advantage. A full overview of your data improves its quality and reliability across your entire organization. Removal of outdated and duplicate information reduces the amount of data you store and manage.

Simpler business processes

Superior data quality facilitates better decision making and simplifies business processes – enabling insights into customers’ natural data patterns as well as the discovery of new business models. Simplicity also improves data processing efficiency.

Data is protected

Proper data governance mitigates data- and privacy-related risks related to data breaches and the danger of public shaming for customer privacy neglect. Strong data governance policy sends a clear message to your customers that their data is securely guarded.

Reference case

We installed DataRadar for a client who believed its data was in order but wanted to be certain. DataRadar discovered that its systems contained sensitive personal information that was, in some cases, publicly available to anyone willing to dig. Information unaccounted for cannot be properly protected. DataRadar also uncovered cases of misused information systems, where personal data had been added to free-text input fields not meant for such information. This data was also not adequately protected.

Applied to a legacy system, DataRadar uncovered personal information forgotten and lost during previous data migrations. Personal information was also recovered from previous data model redesigns and refactoring. Data connected to products and services no longer in use was removed. DataRadar enabled the company to ensure customer data was safe and sound with zero unnecessary duplication.
