At the core of the initiative is a focus on young people — equipping students with the skills, tools and mindset needed to navigate and shape a world increasingly driven by artificial intelligence.
AI Leap (TI-Hüpe) is a nationwide public-private initiative designed to bring artificial intelligence tools and skills into Estonia’s education system. The program provides students and teachers with access to leading AI-based learning applications and training.
Building on the legacy of Estonia’s Tiger Leap program from 1990s, AI Leap represents the next chapter in the country’s digital development — helping education systems adapt to the reality that artificial intelligence is transforming how people learn, work and innovate.
“Nortal has supported education and STEM initiatives since its founding more than 25 years ago,” said Ats Albre, CEO of Nortal Estonia. “We see this as a natural continuation of that commitment. AI Leap is a groundbreaking initiative, not only for Estonia but globally. Young people are shaping the future of innovation, and it is critical that they are equipped with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in the age of artificial intelligence.
“Beyond that, today’s students will not only need to navigate themselves in the world of AI, but they are the next generation that will define what innovation looks like in the future. Supporting them means supporting the development of the societies and economies of tomorrow,” Albre added.
Ivo Visak, CEO of the AI Leap (TI-Hüpe) initiative, welcomes Nortal as a partner. “AI Leap is built on strong public–private collaboration, bringing together the capabilities of government, educators and industry,” Visak said. “Artificial intelligence is already reshaping how young people learn and think, and education systems must respond with purpose. We are pleased to welcome Nortal as a partner in helping ensure that every student gains the skills and understanding needed to use AI in a smart and responsible way.”
The initiative is led in collaboration with the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and partners across the public and private sectors, with an initial phase reaching thousands of students and teachers across Estonia.
Through this collaboration, Nortal will contribute to strengthening AI competencies, supporting educators, and helping to build a digitally capable and innovation-driven future workforce.
