Unifying Accounts Across Global Brands

Sorry, this entry is only available in American English. For the sake of viewer convenience, the content is shown below in the alternative language. You may click the link to switch the active language.

A global enterprise media and entertainment company was looking to create an account and identity-management experience for its many brands under their organizational umbrella. They were looking to enable users to access their guest profiles everywhere, everytime they engage with a platform, online or offline, which allowed the company to provide more personalized services, content, and offers to its users through analytics. Nortal was brought in as part of a larger team for backend development, re-architecting services, containerizing applications, and running performance tests to identify bottlenecks.

The project included several partners and tiers across the organization. Nortal worked mostly with backend services tied to user identity management (registration, login, profile management, etc.).  Ongoing software development work done by Nortal as a part of the identity management project includes:

      • Exposing client-facing APIs through re-architecture of backend and middle tier services.
      • Building backend architecture for high/ spiky traffic websites with high scalability, low latency, and in a cost effective manner.
      • Spearheading and implementing the organization’s container strategy using Docker and Amazon ECS. Reducing monolithic architecture into microservices to help in an enterprise-wide initiative to  support high scalability and future cloud native modernization efforts.
      • Enhancing existing Continuous Delivery processes by implementing extensive test automation using open source tools like TestNG.
      • Running a series of performance tests in order to expose bottleneck incidents in website growth and seasonal spike loads.

Ongoing cloud migration and deployment work done by Nortal as a part of the project includes:

      • Working in a DevOps capacity to automate processes around infrastructure creation and maintenance. Using tools like Amazon CloudFormation, Terraform, and etc. to appropriate best practices for infrastructure as code.
      • Facilitating the efficient consumption of the REST API for the front end: Angular, Mobile, Android TV, and etc.

Identity management is an ongoing initiative across the global enterprise media and entertainment teams. Nortal, now four years into the project, has grown from a 4 person team up to 10 throughout the ongoing  project. In this time, Nortal has enabled a single user login across 400 million enterprise-wide accounts, including: guest profile creation and modification, single sign on, legal document recording, and OAuth 2.0 Authentication Security.
