Last week, Nortal and Icefire both signed contracts to work on the Estonian Tax and Customs Board’s (ETCB) new e-Tax/e-Customs portal to make their services even better for end users.
Lauri Tammiste, Head of the Public Sector Business Unit at Nortal, said Estonian e-solutions for taxes and customs have been the flagship of Estonian e-governance for years.
They have been a role model for other similar organizations worldwide,” Tammiste added. “We are pleased to contribute to the development of a new e-solution for the ETCB that will make their online platform clearer, easier to use and more up-to-date for the end user.”
The contract involves the first phase of development where the structure of the online system will go through a comprehensive overhaul and the user experience for online services will be improved by 2019.
The ETCB’s online e-tax filing project involves the development of the self-service portal that will simplify customer navigation and communication with the ETCB.
The new payments component will give customers a much clearer view of their receivables, operations, prepayment account and refund requests. Making payments will also become easier.
“A new technological foundation will help reduce physical contact with us to the greatest possible extent,” said Valdur Laid, Director General of the ETCB. “The services of the e-ETCB will have a clearer and more user-friendly design.”
Nortal has been responsible for about 40% of Estonia’s eGovernance disruption in the past 15 years.
