“During the interview process, I really connected with Malia Jorgensen, Director of Talent Acquisition. She set me up for success during the interview process by providing clear expectations for the process. I felt confident when talking to the hiring manager and the offer aligned with everything that I was looking for at that time.”
“In terms of job title, I went from Office Assistant, to Office Manager, and now to HR Coordinator. In terms of job description, I was doing a lot of office related tasks when I first started, then I grew into owning internal events, which I really enjoy. As an Office Manager, I took on a lot of HR related tasks, so the HR Coordinator transition just made sense. Now in my new role, I have more HR responsibilities such as onboarding.”
“I ultimately wanted professional growth. Once a HR Coordinator role opened up, I discussed the open position with my manager and Nortal ultimately extended me an offer – so I took it.”
“Prior to my promotion, I already started doing onboarding tasks for the HR department in addition to other related responsibilities. Once we finalized that I was going to go into HR, formal training was solidified and my onboarding started with the team. Now, my boss has connected me to my Estonian counterpart so that I can get up to speed on our HR systems.”
“I learned that I have some areas to grow in. For example, I need to be more detail-oriented with HR tasks and I need to learn all about employment law so that I can get certified in it.”
“I really enjoy projects where I can work with other people. My favorite thing about my job is when I see all the hard work come together and people enjoying themselves during events. It’s always nerve-wracking to see if the event will be successful, but once everything is done then I get a sense of pride afterwards.”
“The most challenging aspect of my job is juggling team members schedules to set up meetings within the meeting parameters and participants preferences. Other challenges I’m facing are getting up to speed on the HR systems that I don’t have experience with yet and becoming more detail-oriented.
The most rewarding part of my job is rallying employees together for events in addition to the friendships that I’ve created through work. I am starting to feel like my role at Nortal is more impactful due to our people feeling connected through virtual events, which makes me feel really good. Now being in HR, I feel like I can make even more of a positive impact.”
“Honestly, I am so excited to learn everything in the realm of HR and so I can be an effective team member. There are also processes and customs that I am looking forward to updating. It’s nice to know that my manager and I are on the same page to make tasks more efficient. The other thing I’m looking forward to is working with new people. In the past, I only worked with the operations team, so it will be nice to collaborate with other teams.”
